The Digestive System of Vertebrates
Acknowledgments
I am grateful to the many people who contributed to the preparation of this CD. I owe special thanks to the many colleagues who contributed photographs of these animals. Most of the fish photographs were obtained from contributors to the American Fisheries Society Slide Catalog. Many of the amphibian and reptile photos were contributed by Ted Hoberg and obtained from his CD on Reptiles and Amphibians of North Dakota. A few of the mammal photos were obtained from the Mammal Imaging Library of the American Society of Mammalogists. Most of the other photographs were contributed by members of the Comparative Nutrition Society, North Carolina State University Environmental Medicine Consortium, and North Dakota Game and Fish Department. I want to thank Dr. Bill Jensen for introducing me to the publications on amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals of North Dakota, and the photographer Chris Grondahl, department director, Dean Hildebrand, and the editor Harold Umber for their use.
I am grateful to the reviewers of this CD, Drs. Malcolm Roberts and Jody Gookin, College of Veterinary Medicine, N C State University. Their comments and suggestions improved both its content and clarity. The encouragement of Dr. Michael Stoskopf, College of Veterinary Medicine, N C State University was much appreciated.
I am especially indebted to Brenda Bunch, Medical Illustrator, Biomedical Communication Department, College of Veterinary Medicine, N C State University for the layout and design of this CD, and patiently leading me through the its trials and tribulations. We are both beholden to Esther Finegan, Department of Animal and Poultry Science, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada for her comments and advice on its preparation and organization.
