The 2004 Fifth Biennial Symposium of the Comparative Nutrition Society was held July 14-19, 2004 at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station Conference Center, in Hickory Corners, MI.

PRESENTATIONS
Two student presentation awards were given to:
- Donovan P. German for his oral presentation on Digestive enzyme activities in the omnivorous Phytichthys chirus (Stichaeidae): evidence for membership in an herbivorous clade of prickleback fishes.
- Filipa Godoy for her poster presentation on High bacterial diversity in the forestomach of the Hoatzin is revealed by molecular analysis of 16s rRNA genes.
Ian Hume was elected to become an honorary life member to the society for his contribution to the field of comparative nutrition.
