LODGING FOR 2008 SYMPOSIUM

Lodging is available at the Liscombe Lodge in Liscomb Mills, Nova Scotia.

Please make your reservations no later than June 15, 2008.

The Liscombe Lodge is situated along Nova Scotia's picturesque Marine Drive, nestled among the evergreens in one of the most beautiful riverside settings in Atlantic Canada.  In the immediate vicinity, there are numerous outdoor activities to enjoy before and after the sessions.

Package Inclusions:
Accomodation, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are including in the nightly lodging fees. In addition, 20% off green fees at Antigonish Golf and Country Club are available during the conference

Rates in Canadian Dollars:

  • Single occupancy $185.00 / night
  • Double occupancy $135.50 / night
  • Triple occupancy $119.00 / night
  • Quad occupancy $111.00 / night

The following room options are available on a first come first serve basis, please specify if you have a preference.

  • Riverside Lodge
    Has 30 superior rooms, each with private balcony overlooking the Liscombe River. Rooms include two double beds or one queen and one pullout bed.
  • Cottages
    Each cottage contains four bedrooms, each bedroom has private bath, and common living area with open fireplace and verandah. Rooms include two double beds or two double beds and one pullout bed.

These rates are subject to a $10.65 per day food, beverage, and housekeeping gratuities and 13% tax.

To make your reservations, please call the Liscombe Lodge. Please call Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM Atlantic Standard Time (9:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time). Someone will also be available to help you on the weekends beginning May 3rd. The number is 1-800-665-6343.

When making reservations for a shared room, only one person needs to contact the lodge. The bill can be divided upon your arrival.

Looking to share a room but don't have someone specific in mind? Our student liaison, Alice Green, will be helping to put people in contact with one another. Please email Alice at asgreen@ucdavis.edu for a list of names and emails of folks also looking for a roommate.

The Liscombe staff recommend the following accomodations for pre and post conference travel:

  • The Liscombe Lodge, $155 for single or double occupancy for the lodge or cottage, and $185 for the chalets. This includes room and breakfast only.
  • The Keltic Lodge, http://www.kelticlodge.ca/, $211.00 - single or double occupancy
  • The Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, http://www.digbypines.ca/, $175.00 - single or double occupancy.
  • The Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, http://www.westin.ns.ca/, $189.00 per room.

Transport from and to the airport is still being negotiated. We expect to have that information in the next few days.


Alternative Accomodations:

Alternative accommodations are available at Birchill Bed & Breakfast and Guest House in Liscomb (5-7 mi / 8-11 km) from the conference venue. Camping and several additional lodges and B&B's can be found approximately 15 mi/25 km from Liscombe Lodge in Sherbrooke. Please download the following 'Alternative Accommodation' for several alternatives including approximate distance from Liscomb, estimated nightly rates, and contact information. Nightly rates are less expensive at these alternative locations but the cost of transport to and from Liscombe and meals are not included. Make your reservations early August is peak tourist season in Nova Scotia and there is no guarantee of availability or rates at these locations
